The essentials
Where is the hotel?
1930 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. On Monterey Street, a mile from downtown San Luis Obispo.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am. If you are arriving outside normal hours, call ahead and we will make arrangements.
How far is Morro Rock?
1.2 miles — a short drive, or a pleasant walk along the Embarcadero if the weather is behaving.
Is San Luis Obispo a good stop on a road trip?
It sits roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on Highway 1, which makes it either a destination or the best place to break the drive.
Costs
Is there a resort or amenity fee?
No. There is no resort fee and no amenity fee. Breakfast, parking, Wi-Fi, the fitness centre, happy hour and the rooftop are all included in the room rate. Local taxes are shown before you confirm.
Is parking free?
Yes — complimentary, on site. In a small coastal town in summer that is worth more than it sounds.
What is the cancellation policy?
It varies by rate. The terms that apply are shown when you book and repeated in your confirmation email. If you are unsure, call us and we will check.

Which rooms have a jacuzzi?
A jacuzzi is available in selected rooms across several room types, rather than in every room of one type. If that is why you are booking, call the front desk and we will make sure you get one.
Which rooms have a view of Morro Rock?
The King Tower Rooms look out over Morro Rock and the coast. The rooftop has the best view in the building and is open to every guest.
Is there air conditioning?
Yes — every room has individually controlled heating and air conditioning.
Do you have an accessible room?
Yes — the Accessible King Balcony, an ADA accessible room with a king bed, a balcony and a fireplace.
Which rooms sleep more than two?
The Double King, the Double King with Balcony and the One Bedroom Suite all sleep up to four.
Practical
Is breakfast included?
Yes — a complimentary continental breakfast served daily from 7:00am to 10:00am in the breakfast area off the lobby. Items vary from day to day.
What is happy hour?
Wine and light snacks in the lobby, every evening from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, included for guests.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes — Sands Inn & Suites is pet friendly. Please tell us when you book so we can put you in a suitable room, and ask the front desk about the current pet fee. Service animals are always welcome and exempt from any fee.
Is there a gym?
Yes, on site and open 24 hours.
